The mission of the
Arcadia High School Counseling Program is to provide a comprehensive,
developmental counseling program addressing the personal/social, academic and
career development of all students.
School counselors are professional school advocates who provide support
to maximize student potential and academic achievement. In partnership with other educators, parents
or guardians and the community, school counselors facilitate the support system
to ensure all students in the

Student Support Team operates under the belief that:

The

All students have dignity and worth.
·
All students have the right to participate in a
comprehensive school counseling program.
·
The school counseling team provides immediate access
to a counselor through the Counselor of the Day program.
·
All students’ ethnic, cultural, racial and sexual
differences and special needs are considered in planning and implementing a
school counseling program.
·
All students grades 9-12
shall have access to a full-time credentialed master’s degree level school
counselor to deliver the counseling program.
And that the Arcadia High
School Comprehensive School Counseling Program should:

Be based on specified goals as identified by the
National Standard for School Counseling for all students
grades 9-12.
·
Be planned and coordinated by the Student Support Team
in coordination with other school, parent and community representatives.
·
Use data to drive program development and evaluation
and to identify those students who are either underachieving or are under
served by the school counseling program.
·
Be evaluated by a Student Support Team Supervisor on
specified goals.
·
Actively involve the Student Support Team members to
monitor students’ results.

Abide by the professional school counseling ethics as
advocated by the American School Counselor Association.
