Holly Avenue will be partnering with Walmart again in the plastic bag recycling program, the KIDS RECYCLING CHALLENGE. We are excited to participate in the program again this coming year in September. It will give students a chance to care for their environment while earning money for the school at the same time. Walmart will give Holly Avenue $5 for every 60 gallon collection bag filled with CLEAN and DRY PLASTIC BAGS turned in from September 2006 through April 2007. Walmart is also planning to give out extra cash incentives for schools that bring in the most bags in their regions. Here is a chance for you to teach your children about taking care of their world and environment and to get actively involved in helping to improve their world. Remember, this will be the world they inherit and live in. The more they do to help it, the better their own futures will be. You can RECYCLE PLASTIC SHOPPING AND GROCERY BAGS OF ANY COLOR AND TYPE AS LONG AS THEY ARE CLEAN AND DRY. Please be sure to remove everything from the plastic bags prior to recycling--including register receipts. You can even turn in NEWSPAPER BAGS and DRY CLEANING BAGS as long as they are CLEAN, DRY, AND EMPTY. WE CANNOT TURN IN PRODUCE BAGS OR ANY BAGS THAT HAVE BEEN IN DIRECT CONTACT WITH FOOD. Since we have received advanced notice that we will be able to participate in the program again, we can jump start our savings over the summer! Make sure you keep saving all of your CLEAN and DRY PLASTIC SHOPPING AND GROCERY BAGS over the summer. We should be able to save lots of bags during all our summer and vacation shopping and especially when we start our Back to School shopping. Ask your friends and family to save bags as well. Don't throw them in the trash!! It all adds up very quickly!! You will feel great about helping your children improve their community, environment, future world, and Holly Avenue!! To learn more about the program, you can go to www.kidsrecyclingchallenge.com. or contact Doris Hayata at (626) 445-0629.
