Some specially marked products will contain a UPC worth 5 points. We will not need the entire soup labels anymore, but only the UPC with the Campbell's kid logo. Turn these into your teachers, school office or the green collection box in the hallway across from the office. 10% Back to School Program at Vons and/or Pavilions between July 19th through September 5th. In order for Holly Avenue to actually receive the funds, you must ask the cashier for your Rewards Certificate from September 10th to October 7th. The Rewards Certificate will include how much you earned for the school and codes that need to be inputted into the computer by the Scrip Coodinator in order for the school to receive the money. It must be turned into the School Office for the Scrip Coordinator before October 17th. The 10% will not automatically go to your school. Entry forms and rules available from your child's teacher. Traffic Issues were discussed at our PTA meeting this past week. Our Police Department will be working with our school to resolve issues. Our neighbor, the church on the corner of Duarte and Holly (Good Shepherd) has graciously allowed us the use of their parking lot in order to resolve traffic problems. You may park in their lot in the mornings and WALK your child across Holly via the CROSSWALK to Holly Avenue. We thank our neighbor for their graciousness! Parent's Night Out-sponsored by Arcadia Rec Dept. $10/child. 2nd Friday of every month. Reservations can be taken 1 week prior to Oct. 13, but not required as this program limited to first 100 children. Activities geared towards middle and elementary school aged children. Child must be potty trained. Call 574-5113 for more info. Community Leaders and the Arcadia Unified School District have placed a $218 million bond measure on the November 7th ballot. Most of our schools are over 50 years old and need major repair and renovations. Every neighborhood school will receive upgrades and improvements by the Measure I plan adopted by the Board. At each School, the plan calls for upgrading school libraries, upgrading technology in all classrooms to enhance learning, renovating/repairing restrooms to meet new standards, expanding classroom and student educational support areas, and replacing selected fencing, smoke detectors, door locks, and phone systems. Passage of Measure I will allow our schools to qualify for additional state money, stretching our local dollars.
