Message-ID: Dear Holly Avenue Parents, The School Site Council is an integral part of our school community. It is composed of parents and school staff members elected from within their own constituency. The responsibilities of School Site Council members involve overseeing the School Based Programs at Holly Avenue School and their respective budgets. Additional decision making responsibilities have included school uniforms and technology. Elected members serve for a two-year term. The by-laws also include the election of two alternates who will act as non-voting members of the Council for one year and then become a voting member for two years. Thus, the alternate's term is three years. The time commitment to the School Site Council is approximately 1 Y2 hours per month. Meeting are held at 2:45 pm on the third Tuesday of each month except December. It is an easy way to learn and become involved in the many important aspects of Holly Avenue School. This year we will need to elect four (4) parents to replace the four members completing their term on School Site Council as well as two (2) alternate parents. If you would like to nominate someone (including yourself) to be a member of the Council, please complete the form on the reverse side of this letter and return it to the Holly Avenue Office by Friday, April 25, 2008. The names of nominees will be posted in the office by May 1,2008. Elections will be held at an open meeting of the Site Council on May 20, 2008.
