From what I've heard so far, it has been a productive week. Parents and their students are increasing their knowledge about the children's progess being made in terms of gaining knowledge and in meeting the grade level Standards. The conferences are an important step in helping the students assess their skills and how they can help themselves learn more based on the work already accomplished. I hope all of you have taken advantage of the opportunity of sitting down with the teacher and your child as the work just completed has been shared with you. I welcome your comments regarding the process and on other issues you may have. Regards to all, Paul Kearns From PaulK@smtpgtwy.ausd.k12.ca.us Fri Mar 15 19:12:02 2002 From: PaulK@smtpgtwy.ausd.k12.ca.us (Paul Kearns) Date: Fri, 15 Mar 2002 11:12:02 -0800 Subject: [Hugo-Reid] Hugo Reid Update Message-ID: Parents and Friends of Hugo Reid, The teachers and I are planning to make a presentation regarding our new science curriculum on Thursday evening, April 4, 2002 at 7:00 in the cafetorium of the elementary school. Since the science program has been completely revised, we need to be able to share with you the essence of this new curriculum. We hope that you will be able to attend the 30 - 45 minute presentation. This community inservice is intended for adults only. Child care is not provided. The students in our Hugo Reid Theater Group have been busy rehearsing their new show. The 35 students meet for their three weekly rehearsals in the cafetorium and are looking forward to the debut of their original show. It was written, composed, and directed by Janice Clarke, a former Hugo Reid student, currently a coach at Arcadia High School. The one performance will be given on Monday evening, April 1, at 7:00. Two performances for the students during school time will take place the following day. Many families are enjoying the Family Reading Nights, held on both campuses. The primary night is Wednesday, and the elementary night is Thursday. Families read together, and students may take Accelerated Reader tests on books they have read during the one hour activity. Both Reading Nights begin at 6:00 PM. Enjoy the weekend, and have a Happy St. Patrick's Day! Paul J. Kearns
