Hugo Reid is having its first ever "Book Swap" program for the ELEMENTARY CAMPUS ONLY.   On Monday June 2nd and Tuesday June 3rd, students in Grades 2-5 who bring in a book they have already read and want to give up will get a tally next to their names in the "Book Buck" list.   (Students should bring books to hand to their teachers NO LATER THAN Wednesday morning 8:20 a.m.)   There is no limit to the number of books a child brings in.  He or she will get a CREDIT of one "Book Buck" for each book brought in.  The "Book Buck" CREDIT can be redeemed on Friday 6/6 for a different book another child has brought in.    Students will visit the Elementary Cafetorium during their regular school hours to select a different book they might not have read yet.  PLEASE ENCOURAGE YOUR CHILD TO BRING IN A BOOK and participate in our Book Swap!   Additionally, I need volunteers on Friday 6/6.  If you can help with the book swap that day, please reply to  lan.nguyen@lacity.org with the hours you can work.  We will also be setting up and sorting through books after school on Thursday 6/5.  We really need your help with this, too.  :-)  Thank you! My name is Erin Lewis-Morris and I am a teacher.  Next year, half my class will be 10 disadvantaged, struggling-in-school third graders (mostly boys).  We have two excellent computer intervention programs that run via the internet through our server at our school (and of course, they will receive a lot of intervention in small groups with me).  I currently have 5 old iMac G3's that run the two programs.  I am looking for 4 or 5 computers to add to my pieced together collection that will connect to the internet to run the two programs.  I am hoping to have all 10 kids on them at the same time, so I can have time to work with the other 10 kids who are very high academically.  The computers can be Mac or PC.  (I am pretty sure they just have to be computer internet capable, but I have asked our computer dude to e-mail me the least amount of capabilities they need to have.)
