You make a big difference in how well the library runs. The librariesare now closed to students BUT...we still need your help! All books need to be shelved, and all book shelves need to be gone over to make sure the books are in order and ready for next fall. I am spending time on putting together book orders, and updating the AR info. on book spines, so I really appreciate the help with getting the shelves in order. It allows me to take care of other end of the year tasks. You can help at your regular time, or anytime it works for your schedule. Starting on 5/26 there will be instructions in each library (basically just going through each shelf and making sure the books are in order), and slips of paper to put at the end of a shelf when you have completed it. This will allow volunteers to see what needs to be done. Itdoesn't take too much time if enough people help. ******************************************************* ANNOUNCEMENT#4 - ARCADIA REC PLAYGROUND PROGRAM June 5th is the last day for Arcadia Recreation Playground program. ****************************************************** ANNOUNCEMENT #5 - SCOTTIE DAYS HELP NEEDED With summer fast approaching, we over at the Foothills Middle School are trying to fill volunteer spots for Scottie Days before everyone leaves for vacation! It has been a long but rewarding journey.   We were extremely lucky to have had a group of very talented and dedicated parents in the Yearbook Committee.  There was a lot of mid-night oil burned by these wonderful people for data/picture collecting, layout designing, content editing, picture selection and process coordinating.  Much thanks to: - Evelyn Wong who was my most supportive partner in the design, layout and compilation of the yearbook.  She also provided a great deal of valuable input in updating the procedure book. - Karen Wright who successfully solicited corporate sponsors and collected student ads and payments. - Tony Ayad who effectively performed all aspects of the student survey and kindergarten/early-day pictures.  - Sharleen Nakamoto who graciously served as our main reviewer and editor. - Walter Wong who assisted tremendously in photo editing.  - Eric Shen who contributed creative input and assistance - from coordinating picture collection with our SmugMug website to presenting each 5th grader a set of DVDs of all pictures, and for the neat identification badges created for our student photographers! - Deborah Howard who is sweet as can be and helped coordinate between the 5th party committee and yearbook committee on theme and funding issues.    The Yearbook Committee would like to send special thanks to: -  Mr. Gatzke, Ms. McGrath and Mrs. Sweeney for distributing flyers, collecting surveys and assisting with the “Yearbook Picture Days”.  - Ms. McGrath for providing many wonderful pictures and supporting us throughout the entire process.  - The 5th grade student and parent photographers including Eric Shen, Wallace Hu, Peter Howard, Tom Lam, Tony Ayad, Andrea Pender, Jeff George, Greg Nakamoto, Patty Soldo and many others for taking over 4,000 pictures of  important events and field trips throughout the school year. - The prior year chairperson, Helen Wong for her support and good tips.  - Donna Noda for proof reading and assisting with many issues. - Evie Mathieson for her help and friendly attitude. - Carolyn Prater for reviewing flyers and providing guidance on funding issues. - Mr. Bruce for his review and approval of the yearbook. - All 5th grade students and parents for providing data and pictures.. - All corporate sponsors for your generous donations.   The 5TH Grade Yearbook Committee hopes that the yearbook will be enjoyed by the Class of 2009.   Congratulations and Best Wishes to our graduating Raiders. May you continue to grow and learn as you move on to Foothills Middle School! Sincerely, Sylvia Li, 5th Grade Yearbook Chairperson
