They will be sent to Nicaragua with a group of high students who are visiting this summer. Shoes can be placed in boxes at the expo or they can be taken to room 110. Thank you for your help! *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ BOOK BATTLES ARE FAST APPROACHING! Is your 4th or 5th Grader reading the books? This is a fabulous program to encourage students to read books from a variety of genres by making it into a game. The students “battle,” or compete, as teams to test their knowledge of the books. There is a list for 4th Grade and one for 5th Grade. The books are available to borrow from the school library and classroom libraries. Interested students read ALL the titles on their grade level list. In early May, we meet to form teams. For more information, please check the “Student Activities” section on the school website and/or speak to Ms. Macintosh (4th) or Mrs. Klipstein (5th). *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Interested in becoming more involved next year? All proceeds will go to the AEF campaign. This is a wonderful example of support from one school community to the entire school community. Thank you Designing Dads! Thanks for helping to spread the word. The golf on April 29 is invitational to all interested and non-threatening for novices. Within each foursome the best shot is where the next swing is taken for each within that foursome and the best shot finishes each hole. It really is a fun day! Flyers will be coming home soon. Our intent is to have representation in foursomes from several community groups, e.g., firefighters, Arcadia Police, Methodist Hospital, etc. as well as each of our schools and school district. All of the proceeds from the tournament will be gifted to AEF in support of our terrific teachers and programs. The cost for a foursome to golf is $400, a single golfer is $75. The flyer you will be receiving also has suggestions on other ways to support AEF for non-golfers with sponsorship opportunities, for example, to sponsor a tee and have a sign with the sponsor's name displayed is $200. For further information on the golf tournament please contact our parent volunteer extraordinaire and organizer Carole Randles at 355.4620 or email her at crtandles@verizon.net.
