Arcadia Unified Launching Full-Day Kindergarten and TK Program
The Arcadia Unified School District will begin full-day Transitional Kindergarten (TK) and Kindergarten programs next school year, Fall 2016. The current half-day TK and Kindergarten programs will be expanded to a full-day schedule and available to all Arcadia Unified students.
“This will be a great benefit to everyone involved. This was an interest that our parents and teachers wanted us to consider, and we are happy to have worked with them and our board of education to figure out how to make this a reality for our community. We are all very excited,” said Arcadia Unified School District Superintendent David Vannasdall.
Numerous studies indicate that students who attend full-day kindergarten achieve better grades, and have improved attendance. Teachers appreciate the flexible and focused learning environment where they can provide additional individual and small group time with their students. Many parents who would typically place their children in afterschool programs will be saving at least $500 a month with this free program. The local economy will likely get a boost with the hiring of additional teachers and staff as well.
Registration for Arcadia Unified Kindergarten and TK for Fall 2016 will begin on February 29, 2016, for those with siblings already enrolled at the same elementary school, and on March 7, 2016, for those without siblings. Please visit our registration page for complete enrollment and registration information.
