INCOMING Interdistrict Permits
AUSD specifies the terms and conditions under which interdistrict attendance shall be permitted or denied. Students seeking or currently on an interdistrict permit must meet the following conditions:
- Good attendance
- Positive behavior
- Academic progress
Parents and students are required to adhere to all AUSD policies, regulations, and procedures. Permits may be revoked at any time for non-compliance with terms and conditions. (Education Code 46600)
During our priority application periods, AUSD accepts both inter-district permit applications with a release from the student's district of residence and for provisional enrollment for students who do not yet have a release from the student's district of residence. INCOMING interdistrict permit applications with an approved release will have priority over applications for provisional enrollment. Additionally, applications for provisional enrollment will not have an appeal process.
Documents may include:
Academics
- A Transcript (unofficial copy is acceptable) - is required for 10th -12th grade applicants.
- A report card (most recent available to the parent - does not need to be the current year)
- Teacher notes or comments
- Progress report(s)
- A school discipline report
- A report card with work habits and citizenship marks
- A letter from the last school of attendance administrator
- A printout from the school's information system (PowerSchool, Aries, Best, MiSiS, etc.)
- A report card with annual attendance information
- Provisional inter-district permit applications may be submitted without an approved inter-district release. The district understands that some districts do not process permits with the same deadlines as AUSD. Provisional enrollment is being offered to support parents/guardians in choosing the best educational program for their child(ren) and to be able to enroll prior to the start of the school year. Applications for provisional enrollment do not have an appeal process. Please be aware that approved provisional inter-district permits are subject to an approved release from the district of residence being submitted within the required timeline (within 30 school days of the first day of attendance).

Please do not contact the district asking about the status of your application. Contacting the district may have a negative impact on the district's decision to approve a permit application or result in further delaying a decision.
