Patricia Mattera Named Highland Oaks Elementary School Principal

Patricia Mattera has been selected as the new Principal of Highland Oaks Elementary School. The Arcadia Unified School District Board of Education approved the recommendation of Superintendent Dr. Vannasdall and staff at its most recent meeting on August 9, 2016.

“Patti brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership experience to our district, and really shares our vision of innovation with a student-first approach,” said Arcadia Unified School District Superintendent Dr. Vannasdall.

Mrs. Mattera brings more than 20 years of experience with her to Highland Oaks Elementary School. She was most recently the principal at Naramake Elementary School in Norwalk, Connecticut. In addition to having experience as a principal, she has also been an assistant principal, elementary classroom teacher, literacy resource coach, and a district coach.

“Patti is actually one of several out-of-state candidates that applied for the position. We are very fortunate to have had a large pool of qualified candidates that applied,” said Arcadia Unified School District Assistant Superintendent of Human Resource Services Kevin Hryciw.

Mrs. Mattera has a Master of Arts Degree in Teaching from Sacred Heart University where she also earned her Administrative Credential. She also has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Southern Connecticut State University.

“I am thrilled to be joining AUSD as the new Principal of Highland Oaks Elementary School. I look forward to working collaboratively with the Highland Oaks Community,” remarked Mattera.

Highland Oaks is one of the highest rated elementary schools in California. The Blue Ribbon school has a distinguished music program, offers numerous extracurriculars, and is rated 10 out of 10 by GreatSchools.

Mrs. Mattera and her husband Larry have three daughters, Toni-Ann, Alyssa, and Nicole.
