Arcadia Unified New Student Enrollment Now Open

Enrollment for students new to the Arcadia Unified School District for the 2022-2023 school year is now open. Families can enroll their students entirely online and are encouraged to do so as early as possible to ensure they are fully registered before the new school year begins. For non-Arcadia residents interested in attending Arcadia Unified schools, the district has a permit application process that is also available online.

In accordance with the State of California’s push toward universal transitional kindergarten (TK), there are now new age eligibility requirements for students. Students can now be two months younger than in previous years to be eligible to start TK, and each subsequent school year going forward, the required age will be gradually younger than the previous year. Below are the new guidelines for each of the next several years:

In 2022–23, Children are eligible for TK if they turn 5 between September 2 and February 2
In 2023–24, Children are eligible for TK if they turn 5 between September 2 and April 2
In 2024–25, Children are eligible for TK if they turn 5 between September 2 and June 2
In 2025–26, School Districts will make TK available to all children who will have their fourth birthday by September 1 of the school year.

While some districts will be preparing to implement full-day universal transitional kindergarten, Arcadia Unified has offered full-day TK and Kindergarten at all of its six elementary schools since 2016.

Families with students entering Kindergarten (children whose 5th birthday is on or before Sept. 1, 2022) in the fall are encouraged to enroll by June 1, 2022 to be eligible for a free, special “K-Camp” program that will take place June 13, 2022 through July 7, 2022. Arcadia Unified’s K-Camp is designed to help students make a seamless transition into Arcadia Unified Kindergarten classes by allowing students to spend a few hours in their soon-to-be classrooms, build familiarity with their school campuses, make friends, and more. A member of the League of Innovative Schools, Arcadia Unified has one of the most robust curricular and extracurricular offerings in the region with an emphasis on the “Four A’s”: Academics, Arts, Athletics, and Activities. Its award-winning music and performing arts programs begin in elementary school and continue through middle and high school. Career and Technical Education courses may be found beginning in Arcadia Unified middle schools. Offerings include studies in Creative Science and STEAM, Computer Science, Industrial Technologies, including Guitar Making, Broadcast Journalism, Farm to Table, Money Matters, Theatre, Dance, Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID), Marching Band, and a comprehensive sports league.

Arcadia High School, which offers 22 Advanced Placement (AP) and nine Honors courses, has been distinguished as a U.S. News and World Report Gold Medal School three times and Newsweek named Arcadia High to its Top Public High Schools in America list. The Home of the Apaches has a unique offering of more than 50 academic teams and clubs for its students to find and explore their passions. These clubs include the Future Business Leaders of America, Academic Decathlon, History Bowl, Math Team, E-Sports, Ocean Science Bowl, Quiz Bowl, Physics Team, Science Bowl, Science Olympiad, Government Team, Robotics Team, and Speech and Debate, to name a few. Students also have numerous Career and Technical Education pathways, which include Sports Medicine, Television Production, Computer Science and Programming, Engineering, Graphic Design, Theatre, Dance, and more. Arcadia High School is home to 11 full-time counselors, including a College and Career counselor and a Social and Emotional Wellness counselor, along with a comprehensive Wellness Center. Likewise, every Arcadia Unified elementary and middle school has a dedicated full-time school counselor on each campus. Arcadia Unified also offers a comprehensive Independent Study program.

New student enrollments are processed on a first-come, first-served basis, so families are encouraged to submit enrollment materials as soon as possible to ensure timely processing. When beginning the enrollment process, parents should have the required enrollment documents prepared for uploading, such as proof of residency, age, and immunization records.
