All permit applications must be submitted with a release from the district of residence.

The Governing Board recognizes that parents/guardians of students who reside within the geographic boundaries of one district may, for a variety of reasons, desire to enroll their children in a school in another district.

The Arcadia Unified School District (AUSD) considers both INTERDISTRICT and INTRADISTRICT permits, as well as, PERMISSION TO REMAIN to provide different learning opportunities for students.

INTERDISTRICT permits are for students that do not reside within the AUSD boundaries that would like to attend a school in AUSD and for students that do reside within AUSD boundaries that would like to attend school in a different district.

The AUSD specifies the terms and conditions under which interdistrict attendance shall be permitted or denied. Students seeking or currently on permit must meet the following conditions: 1) Good attendance, 2) Positive behavior, 3) Academic progress. Parents and students are required to adhere to all AUSD policies, regulations, and procedures. Permits may be revoked at any time for non-compliance with terms and conditions. (Education Code 46600)

ANNUAL SCHOOL CHOICE APPLICATION: Two types of INTRADISTRICT permits are available each year during our annual SCHOOL CHOICE process.  INTRADISTRICT SCHOOL CHOICE permits are for students that would like to attend an AUSD school other than their school of residence. AUSD also offers open enrollment choice to students on an interdistrict permit through the INTERDISTRICT PERMIT TRANSFER SCHOOL CHOICE process.

PERMISSION TO REMAIN may be granted to resident students that move within district boundaries during the school year.  A family that moves during the school year is required to immediately notify the school.

Transportation shall not be provided for students attending on interdistrict agreement.  AUSD will not agree to pay or be responsible for excess costs for students that choose to attend school in another district.
