Teacher Induction Memorandum Of Understandings (MOU)

Teacher Induction Candidates and Mentors will enter into an Induction Program MOU

 

Candidate Requirements

A candidate must meet the following requirements and show competence in the California Standards for the Teaching Profession (CSTP) to complete the Induction Program:

  • Agree to enter an Induction program within 30 days of hiring date
  • Attend the New Educator Academy (if applicable)
  • Attend Entrance Interview, within 30 days of hiring date
  • Having a mentor assigned within the first 30 days of hiring date
  • Meet a minimum of 1 hour per week with mentor
  • Develop goals within the context of the Individual Learning Plan within the first 60 days of enrollment in the program
  • Complete all program activities and requirements satisfactorily
  • Develop a roadmap outlining the activities that will demonstrate progress towards mastery in  meeting California Standards for the Teaching Profession
  • Document evidence to demonstrate growth in the California Standards for the Teaching Profession through activities outlined in the Individualized Learning Plan
  • Reflect on the learning and professional growth goals indicated within the ILP
  • Colleague and peer observations by candidate
  • Analysis of student and other outcome data
  • Attend Professional Development to become part of the larger learning community within the profession
  • Dedicate time for regular Mentor and Candidate interactions
  • Participate in an Exit Interview during the Spring of year 2

 

Mentor Experience and Qualification Requirements

The following are the minimum qualifications of the mentor teacher:

  • Minimum of three years of effective teaching experience
  • Availability to meet on average for a minimum of 1 hour per week
  • Work at the same school site as the candidate (preferable)
  • Be in the same grade level or department as the candidate (preferable)
  • Knowledge of the context and the content area of the candidate’s teaching assignment
  • Possession of the same credential (or close to) as the candidate
  • Possession of a Clear Teaching Credential
  • Demonstrate commitment to professional learning, collaboration and reflection process
  • Ability, willingness, and flexibility to meet candidate needs for support
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written feedback
  • Professional, understands confidentiality
  • Be available to support the candidate
 

Additional Instructional Personnel Requirements

Arcadia Unified School District (AUSD) has a small Teacher Induction program dedicated to providing support for AUSD staff needing to clear their credential. Additional training for candidates and mentors is provided by AUSD Instructional Coaches, teachers on special assignment (TOSAs).
